The Director of Strategy and Initiatives supports the Texas Exes’ engagement and development efforts by strengthening coordination, stewardship, and operational effectiveness across the organization. This role focuses on improving how the association identifies, tracks, and intentionally engages individuals who participate in Texas Exes programs and initiatives.
The Director of Stewardship works closely with colleagues across the organization to support stewardship strategies, surface opportunities for deeper involvement and participation in our continuum of giving and improve internal processes. This role is highly collaborative and is not solely responsible for programs or donor relationships.
Major Job Functions
Support the identification and coordination of individuals engaged across Texas Exes initiatives, including marquee events and awards, the Flying Longhorns, Forty Acres Society, Longhorn Business Network, Legends Club, Board of Directors and volunteers, and others.
Work collaboratively with UT Development to help identify and contextualize engagement and giving opportunities and provide strategic support to the Chief Development Officer.
Develop and maintain processes, documentation, and systems that support intentional stewardship and internal visibility of constituent engagement.
Partner across departments to improve communication, alignment, and efficiency related to engagement leads and shared relationships.
Analyze engagement data and participation trends to help inform stewardship and outreach strategies.
Manage and mentor two staff members, the Constituent Relations Manager and the Director of Special Projects.
Support staff development through coaching, feedback, and clear goal alignment.
Assist senior leadership with strategic initiatives and cross?departmental projects as needed to advance organizational priorities.
Essential Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required, University of Texas at Austin always a plus
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in alumni relations, nonprofit management, development support, strategy, or a related field
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Experience managing staff and improving operational processes
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage complex relationships
Experience in higher education, advancement, or membership-based organizations preferred
