Functions: Manage marketing and communications efforts, including social media, media and public relations, and promotions, for various SIOP events and initiatives, reaching both internal and external audiences and ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals
Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and implement unique, targeted marketing and communications plans to support organizational events and initiatives, including signature SIOP events such as the Annual Conference, the Leading Edge Consortium, and the SIOP Work Smart Series
Thoughtfully align audiences, messaging, and current and emerging communications channels, including social media, SIOP.org, email, and newsletters
Serve as manager of SIOP’s email platform, iPost; manage list creation, ensure compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act, work with Senior Brand and Content Strategist to design and implement templates and guidelines
Regularly interact on SIOP’s social media channels to promote engagement; provide regular monitoring, analysis, and reporting, identifying areas for improvement
Produce and edit animated graphics and videos for marketing projects, colleagues, and approved committee work
Track and implement modern and emerging best practices, in marketing and technology, to elevate SIOP’s marketing
Oversee SIOP Annual Conference photography and video needs and opportunities to tell SIOP’s story, support community among members, and support membership retention and recruitment campaigns
Additional duties and projects as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
7+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in an association or nonprofit
Excellent writing skills with exceptional attention to detail
Experience using social media platforms in a professional setting
Self-starter, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple collaborative projects, and meet deadlines
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
Knowledge of APA writing style and proofreading technique preferred
Photography and video production and editing experience preferred
Some travel required (2-3 times/year)
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to sit, speak, listen, read, and communicate using such tools as email, phone, video conferencing, digital platforms, printed documents, and other standard office equipment. Occasionally required to stand, walk, kneel, and carry up to 30 pounds. When working onsite at a meeting or event, this position is very active, requiring extensive movement such as standing, walking, bending, lifting, moving materials, kneeling, and speaking for up to 16 hours per day.
