The Executive Assistant is a member of the administrative support team and provides senior level supports to a member of the executive team. Requires strong verbal and written communications skills, including proofreading and editing. Ability to tactfully manage internal and external relationships, and communicate in a clear, direct, and diplomatic style, handling sensitive situations and complex tasks discreetly, effectively, and efficiently. The Executive Assistant should have solid interpersonal and organizational skills, initiative, self-motivation, sound judgment, discretion, respect for confidentiality, ability to remain calm in a high energy fast-paced environment, and a commitment to providing professional, customer-focused service.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform complex calendar management including proactive resolution of schedule conflicts.
Support executive outreach efforts as needed.
Manage assigned budget and related expense and other financial transactions required of executive.
Support the executive's relationship with the board leadership and provide administrative assistance during leadership meetings.
Write, proofread, edit documents as assigned.
Track and maintain files.
Create meeting agendas, capture detailed meeting minutes including action items.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Ability to pay close attention to detail, focusing on accuracy and quality, without losing sight of the bigger picture.
Self-disciplined to proactively resolve issues, anticipate needs and meet deadlines.
Strong organizational skills including a strong sense of urgency to set priorities, juggle multiple tasks and organize time effectively. Proven ability to develop and manage systems and processes, as well as organize and prioritize multiple complex projects and tasks.
Ability to understand organizational structure and to work through administrative systems, both as an individual and as a member of a team.
Ability to resolve problems creatively and logically, applying expertise and experience to solve problems and detect underlying issues in complex situations and feels comfortable asking questions when something isn't clear.
Education and Experience:
BA required, plus 5+ years of executive administrative support.
Strong proficiency in MS Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams required.
FLSA Status: Exempt
This position typically starts at $83,000 per year.
Location
Pew Research Center staff may work virtually from remote locations up to three days in a standard work week. Staff are required to be present in the Center's Washington, D.C., office on two core days weekly (Tues. and Wed.).
