Overview
The Editorial Specialist I will support the Practice Resources department. This role is the primary liaison to our customer service team, triaging customer requests and coordinating communication between customer service, IT, and Accounting. managing inventory at fulfillment house. Point person for bulk sales, coordinating with Brightkey, customers, and other APIC departments. Supports the other initiatives of the Practice Resources department, including the APIC Text, Policies and Procedures Resource Library, books, or other, as needed.
The Editorial Specialist I works in collaboration with the Practice Resources department, and with other APIC staff, members, so it will support the infection prevention profession and provide value to APIC membership as well as revenue growth to support APIC and its activities. This position supports the goals and mission of APIC.

Major duties and responsibilities

Customer Service (40%)
Primary Liaison to Brightkey, which provides customer service for Products and order fulfillment
Triage Products inbox, respond to queries not handled by Brightkey
Manage bulk orders, including tracking, fulfillment, and coordinating with customers, vendors, other APIC departments as required
Inventory (30%)
Inventory management of print resources, and working with vendors for reprints
Inventory for Annual Conference store. Work with Practice Resources team to determine inventory; manage ordering various vendors, including shipping logistics
Manage web presence—Audit content on APIC online store & Jim Coleman online merchandise store, making updates as needed
Monthly sales reports for Products
APIC Text (15%)
Assist Senior Content Manager with author/editor contracts
Monthly sales reports
Google Analytics usage reports and data analysis Ad hoc editorial support prepping chapters for editorial review
Creating customer URLS, Terms & Conditions review for institutional subscribers
Books and other Content Support (15%)
Supports Policies and Procedures Resource Library
Ad hoc editorial support for books and other content, including proofreading.
Obtains copyright permissions for artwork, illustrations, and other materials reused in the APIC Text or other content.
Contributes to department activities by actively collaborating with team members to continually improve processes and programs, enhance quality, improve outcomes, and foster positive staff and external relationships.
Knowledge and Skills required for the position:
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma with some years of college preferred with concentration in English, Journalism, or related studies.
1-3 years of editing and project management experience, preferably in an association or non-profit setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Project management experience in a publishing environment.
Excellent copy editing and proofreading skills.
Superior project management skills.
Knowledge of digital and print publishing processes and systems.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Teams.
Experience with content management systems, iMIS (or other association management system), and Google Analytics.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Commitment to teamwork a must.
Ability to work with and maintain the confidentiality of data and information.
