NSH is seeking a tech-savvy individual and effective communicator who collaborates with the NSH staff to create, manage, and execute NSH’s marketing and communications plans. This position reports to the NSH Executive Director but will work closely with the Manager, Meetings & Education, and the Manager, Member Services to ensure timely targeted communication. NSH currently uses Higher Logic’s Marketing Automation Enterprise (formerly Real Magnet). Digital marketing will be through Google and Facebook Ad Manager. Agorapulse is used for social media marketing efforts. The Manager, Marketing & Communications, will work with our Public Relations Committee and our journal editorial board. The manager will take the lead on Histology Professionals Day and Medical Laboratory Professionals Week.
We are a REMOTE employer. NSH transitioned to a decentralized workforce in 2017 and has no plans to return to a "brick and mortar" office.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Digital & Social Media
Create an overall digital content strategy to amplify NSH’s reach, expand our audience, deepen member engagement, and increase our brand awareness for events, programs, products, and services.
Shape and execute the overall website strategy and search engine optimization in collaboration with the Deputy Director, who has IT oversight of NSH’s SaaS services.
Shape and execute NSH’s social media and related digital marketing strategy, including cross-department content creation.
Create visual stories and videos to drive NSH’s mission for use on NSH’s digital properties.
Provide monthly metrics reports with analysis during staff meetings.
Marketing & Branding
Using NSH’s project management platform, create and manage an internal MarCom calendar to ensure smooth planning, creation, and deployment of email marketing campaigns, print and digital promotional pieces.
Manage all aspects of NSH’s internal email system in collaboration with appropriate staff by the project.
Evolve NSH’s brand and visual standards guidelines following our member engagement plan and stated value proposition in collaboration with the Executive Director and Manager, Member Services.
Develop in collaboration with Manager, Meetings & Education and Manager, Member Services to deploy integrated marketing strategies for all NSH’s products, events, member benefits, education opportunities, and governance initiatives.
Draft, edit, and order print marketing and promotional materials as needed (except for the Annual Convention advance program).
Create, manage, and optimize all advertising campaigns based on stakeholder needs and campaign objectives.
Serve as primary liaison to SEO and Google metrics consultants.
Manage and prepare reports on all digital marketing and website performance to NSH staff, consulting on improving performance to meet stated campaign objectives.
Manage all communications for the Society, including the weekly e-news brief, blog, and member newsletter.
Using NSH’s project management platform, create and manage a plan to keep the NSH website updated in collaboration with the entire NSH staff.
Serves as staff liaison to the Public Relations Committee and other task forces assigned by the Executive Director.
In collaboration with the Executive Director and Editor in Chief, manage the Journal of Histotechnology’s marketing and production with Taylor & Francis.

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or Business, or related degrees, preferred, and 3 - 5 years related experience. Will consider relevant experience in place of bachelor’s degree.
CAE preferred or willing to earn the CAE credential.
Strong customer service skills and good judgment.
Experience using social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
Strong understanding of SEO and marketing analytics to provide concise reports.
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision in a virtual environment.
A dedicated workspace is required for full-time telework.
General comfort with using/learning technology platforms. Knowledge of Euclid ClearVantage (or other AMS), Higher Logic Marketing Automation, and Learning Management Systems is a plus.
Exception organization skills, the ability to handle multiple projects.
Preference for completing projects over starting projects.
Telecommuting is allowed.
