Summary: We are seeking a versatile copywriter and communications professional to join our mission-driven organization. In addition to creating communications that advance our work every day, you will help map content strategies to assist educators in using technology tools and resources for better student achievement.
What You’ll Do: In collaboration with colleagues, you will create communications such as blogs, ebooks, press releases, website content, and podcasts to further TCEA’s mission and provide resources to our members.
As key elements of the position, you will:
Write and edit content for web, print, and general communications (emails, flyers, video scripts, and other marketing efforts).
Manage the organization’s blog, including soliciting freelance bloggers, editing all work, and writing posts that support the association’s messaging.
Create and produce short ebooks from existing TCEA content.
Manage and coordinate media relations and public relations efforts, including creating and editing articles for outside publications.
Develop relationships with educational and technology companies and media sources to create cross-marketing opportunities and to support sponsorships of TCEA events and initiatives.
Interview speakers, staff, and members in order to promote TCEA events, services, and initiatives.
Write and distribute press releases to appropriate media.
Source content for repurposing in social media and other member communications.
Skills and Attributes We are seeking an experienced communications professional with 7+ years of demonstrated professional excellence in writing, editing, content strategy, project management, and press relations as part of a mission-driven team. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required and an education background would be a plus.
We are looking for:
A clear and compelling writer, able to tell a good story and address complex topics with crisp prose.
Demonstrated skills in project management, meticulous attention to detail, with expertise in proofreading and fact-checking, as well as editing for clarity and accessibility.
A precise and thorough editor with extensive knowledge of AP style.
Someone with experience in using publication software such as Adobe InDesign and website editing tools like WordPress
It would be great if you:
Have a background, experience, and/or knowledge of PreK-16 education and educators.
Can coordinate and produce a regular podcast with content of interest to our members.
Telecommuting is allowed.
