The Senior Manager, Scientific Programs provides management and operational oversight of the Meetings Department scientific programming unit. This position assists the Director of Meetings and Scientific Programming in developing the strategic plan related to scientific content and programmatic design elements. This position supervises the Senior Program Officers, Scientific Meetings, Program Coordinator and Assistant, directing and guiding the team in implementation of the strategic plan and overseeing support for the unit.
Manage the Meetings scientific program unit to ensure programmatic and operational efficiencies are established, key deadlines are met and effective communication occurs between all team members within the unit.
Attend project meetings and calls with vendors to oversee requirements gathering and implementation, oversee timelines and ensure effective communication is occurring between vendors and staff.
Oversee Program Committees, including volunteer recruitment, strategic planning and operations.
Communicate with internal departments to verify their needs and provide program design expertise in order to assist in managing their programmatic objectives.
Develop best practices and standard operating procedures for the program unit to ensure efficient and consistent policies and procedures for all ASM Meeting.
Manage programming budget, including technology services, speaker fees, travel and grants and other program activities.
Supervise the Senior Program Officers, Coordinator and Assistant.

All facets of this position are self-directed within the policies and procedures approved by the Board of Directors, and guidelines established by the department’s Director in partnership with the organization’s Senior Leadership team
This position is responsible to the department’s Director for the department’s fiscal management and, in this capacity, rules on the allocation of expenditures
In partnership with the Director, this position is responsible for departmental decision-making regarding personnel actions, the acquisition and utilization of resources, procedures, and control systems
This position supports the department’s Director in overseeing the development of budgets for all existing programs and new proposals, providing signatory approval for expenditures, contracts, subcontracts, and personal service agreements
