Summary: Leads program development, marketing and implementation activities related to SHAPE America’s school-based and community social impact initiatives. Oversees branding, communication strategy and contract management between SHAPE America, its 51 State Affiliates (including the District of Columbia) and corporate partners, ensuring each party fulfills its role in achieving a greater social impact on behalf of our PE and health education community. Develops effective programmatic strategies for multifaceted partnerships while addressing the various needs of partners and stakeholders.
Reports to the Vice President, Strategic Partnerships, Social Impact and Education
Nature and Scope of Work:
Spearheads national community and school-based fundraising campaigns, from conceptualization to implementation.
Fosters and builds collaborative professional relationships, maximizing the potential of the partnership through well-functioning collective efforts.
Applies and cultivates an open communication bridge between SHAPE America and its 51 state affiliate partners and corporate/ non-profit partners.
Works closely with the marketing team to brand, market and promote national fundraising and service-based initiatives (including developing any necessary collateral materials).
Serves as resident programmatic expert and speaks with authority on all fundraising as well as programmatic aspects of the campaign initiatives.
Handles the development and build out of SHAPE America’s digital fundraising platforms, including but not limited to the development of new campaigns within the platform, customer service, content management and donor services.
Follows and assesses key developments in the health and physical education realm and keeps up to date of the latest legislation and trends. Uses this information to continually enhance programmatic fundraising material and education-based resources to maximize growth of programs.
Provide regular reports to leadership which reviews and evaluates the activities and progress of the effort, identifies challenges and concerns, recommends corrective actions.
Leads the development and execution of state/ regional and national convention events in relation to SHAPE America community initiatives and develops sessions for the program track, manages special sponsored events and workshops.
Develops and monitors the annual budget for the Community Initiatives and Social Impact office and manages distribution of funds to participating schools, selected charity organizations, and SHAPE America’s (51) State Affiliates (including the District of Columbia).
Oversees the community initiative related task forces, leads business meetings, and manages projects.
Identifies and develops editorial content from members and state leaders for promotion in national publications, newsletters, and web content. Develops advertising, articles, and feature stories in SHAPE America national and state affiliate publications.
Presents at national, district and state conferences – both in-person and virtually. Conducts presentations related to SHAPE America programs, products and services to partners and sponsors.
Manages programmatic incentives and member recognition at the national and state level, including grant award processes, education workshops, mentorship opportunities and free/reduced national and state memberships. Fosters efforts among state affiliates and education agencies to offer professional development opportunities as
Increases member engagement by providing interactive opportunities through online community platforms and social media.

Bachelor's degree required; preferably in marketing, business, health, physical education, community health or related field and at least 5 years’ experience in non-profit program management. Experience with peer-to-peer and school-based fundraising programs. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, be detail-oriented, as well as the ability to build long-term relationships. Must have the ability to construct and implement a strategic plan, take initiative, work independently and cross-collaboratively with other staff on multiple projects with varying deadlines. Must have experience in budget planning and implementation; program planning; marketing and promoting programs; volunteer management; knowledge of physical activity content and educational principles; computer proficiency; social media marketing and distance education techniques; data base management; and ability to travel up to 15%. Familiarity with Blackbaud’s TeamRaiser platform preferred.
This position is 100% telework. Some travel is required for meetings and/or the Annual Convention.
Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Telecommuting is allowed.
Additional Salary Information: Target range for this position is $55K - $65K
