The American Urological Association (AUA), the premier urologic association providing support to the urologic community, is currently searching for a detail-oriented candidate for our Statistician/Research Manager position.
The Statistician position is designed to implement a strategic plan for monitoring data collection and analysis in order to support the practice and profession of urology and improve patient outcomes and public health. The incumbent is an expert in understanding, analyzing, and reporting clinical and patient outcome data. This work will produce a variety of knowledge products (e.g., position papers, research reports, slide sets, talking points, summaries of data, abstracts, manuscripts) using statistical approaches such as longitudinal analysis, mixed effect modeling, logistic regression, and the broad model building techniques to identify disease-specific treatment patterns and trends.
The individual in this position will:
Function as a key statistician to implement data strategy and programs. Review clinical or other medical research protocols and recommend appropriate statistical analyses.
Explore, link and analyze clinical, claim and survey databases.
Determine project plans, timelines, and technical objectives for statistical aspects of health service research.
Prepare statistical data for inclusion in reports to internal departments, data governing committees, federal regulatory agencies and industry groups.
Coordinate closely with Information Systems (IS) Department to jointly determine the feasibility and burden of storing data on AUA systems and how and by whom it should be accessed.
Provide statistical support to the AUA staff, members, departments and committees as a data resource.

To be Successful
Candidates must be able to provide superior service delivery while working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. It is essential that the individual in this role have strong organizational and communication skills. In addition:
MA/MS in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, or other disciplines with strong quantitative training required.
Five plus years of full-time work experience in statistical analysis required.
Experience working with health insurance claims, electronic health records, health administrative databases, and national health surveys desired.
Familiarity with statistical packages such as SPSS, SAS, or R.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and geographical mapping.
High-quality and detail-oriented self-motivator with a positive working attitude and the ability to accomplish multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Outstanding written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
May be required to work some evenings and weekends and to travel occasionally.
