The Secretary General is responsible for providing strategic leadership by establishing long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies and implementing the JCI Plan of Action and Mission. The Secretary General oversees the operations and staff of the World Headquarters. The Secretary General builds relationships with community stakeholders and contributes to JCI financial viability by promoting the organization to current and prospective Members, Partners and Patrons internationally.
As a member of the Management team, the Secretary General leads the short and long-range budgeting, overall planning and day-to-day management of the JCI Headquarters. The Secretary General recommends and participates in the formulation of new policies and makes decisions within existing policies.
This position is appointed by the JCI President, subject to the approval of General Assembly. The Secretary General is a non-voting member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. The Secretary General serves at the direction of and reports directly to the JCI Board of Directors, the JCI Executive Committee and the President of JCI. As with any executive position, duties are many and may vary from time to time and at the direction of the JCI President.
