As the Marketing Communications Specialist, working under the direction of the Event Marketing & Membership Manager, the Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for identifying, creating, and implementing innovative ways to promote AAGL’s membership, events and story both internally and externally. In addition to providing communication strategies to increase awareness of AAGL activities, highlight important Association initiatives, and strengthen the brand-identity of the AAGL. The Marketing Communications Specialist will assist the Event Marketing & Membership Manager in executing and analyzing our international marketing strategy across all lines of business.

Generate, develop and communicate new ideas for marketing campaigns (email, print, social media, event-related, etc.) that support business line strategies.
Track marketing campaign response and effectively use client/prospect system to track leads and communicate follow-up items to appropriate parties.
Administer and monitor performance and ROI of communication efforts, including providing periodic status reports to management and incorporating feedback to leadership.
Assist with the development and monitor Social Media strategy that promotes AAGL’s brand and drives awareness, member acquisition, and brand penetration.
Research, write and edit engaging feature stories for bi-monthly newsletter and serve as point of contact for contributors to each issue.
Prepare calendar for and distribute announcements, press releases, emails and other communications that describe and promote AAGL and its services.
Recommend and implement website updates with the Event Marketing & Membership Manager and third-party graphic design team or designated vendor.
Ensure consistency in brand and messaging in all deliverables.
Coordinate with technical or graphic design team to develop and distribute communication pieces.
Proactively communicate with key stakeholders on all marketing requests, deadlines, and production progress.
Maintain collateral/materials library in the AAGL’s content management system.
Maintain industry knowledge by attending SMPS or A/E/C-related events/seminars/educational workshops, reviewing related publications, and establishing professional networks.
Act as a liaison between AAGL/office and outside contractors/vendors.
Other projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and three-five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience such as, Marketing Communications (or similar discipline), English or Journalism etc.
Must possess strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as Adobe Create Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
Strong writing, verbal communications, and presentation skills in both digital and print formats.
Ability to conceive, draft, proofread, and edit materials quickly.
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex topics in a clear, concise manner that is engaging to the audience.
Must have ability to work within a team, build relationships and work effectively at all levels of an organization including business development and technical staff.
Must have demonstrated ability to work effectively on a variety of projects concurrently, in a demanding environment, under tight deadlines.
Experience in not for profit organizations is a plus.
