Working as part of the Education Team, the Education Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of the overall scientific program, including all sessions, speakers, abstracts, handouts, and evaluations, of the Society's Annual Meeting.
Key responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, provide support for ASCPT education as directed;
Assist with managing the scientific program onsite at the Annual Meeting;
Work closely with the Conference Manager, who is responsible for Annual Meeting logistics;
Manage the awards nomination and selection process; serve as one of two primary staff liaisons to the Scientific Awards Nominations Task Force and Scientific Awards Selection Task Force;
Manage the abstract and session proposal processes, including all facets from promotional activities, to and including submission, review, coordinating with relevant staff working on the abstract supplement, onsite management of posters and authors;
Coordinate and manage student/trainee Annual Meeting-related activities prior to and onsite at the Annual Meeting;
Assist with speaker coordination and logistics, including production of and ongoing monitoring of event forms, handle speaker communication and requests, and create and maintain speaker files;
Coordinate and assist Meetings Department with all speaker arrangements;
One of several secondary staff liaisons to the Scientific Program Committee.
ASCPT employees a small, friendly staff consisting of 11 highly competent individuals and utilizes a large number of outsourcing arrangements. The Society offers a virtual office environment with staff working up to five days a week remotely. Candidates should be able to work as part of a goal-oriented, collaborative team.
Experience & Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree is required
4+ years scientific/medical association experience
Experience with abstract/proposal management systems preferred
Advanced skills in all Microsoft Office products
Strong written and oral communication skills, along with the willingness to pitch in and support others, as needed, are essential
Excellent project management skills including the ability to juggle multiple projects while responding to daily workload demands and changing priorities. Proven ability to meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to proactively identify challenges and provide creative thinking to problem solving leading to effective solutions.
Requires highly developed communication skills, including strong professional writing and editing skills.
