The Director of Membership and Communities (DMC) has an integral role in advancing the CCA’s mission, with overall responsibility for the development and management of the membership and community strategy. Responsibilities include the development and execution of the overall membership and communities marketing strategy, member communications, committee management, market research, and recruitment and retention efforts. Also responsible for driving and creating new initiatives that increase member value, membership, member engagement and revenue streams.
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the DMC will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, and will partner with the ED to frame key approaches to ensure the CCA’s continued growth and success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Elevate, solidify and manage member recruitment, retention and engagement initiatives, along with the creation of all associated effective marketing materials. The DMC will oversee member communications and member-volunteer activities.
Develop and manage membership recruitment and retention strategy, execution and analytics.
Recommend and develop new member programs and services as well as enhancements to existing programs and services
Develop and manage strategic marketing plans for the Association’s products and services, in collaboration with volunteers.
Conduct market research and analyzes data for appropriate outcome and implementation of new initiatives and programs and/or improvements on existing initiatives and programs (e.g., surveys, literature reviews, focus groups and questionnaires).
Manage Members Needs Assessment projects.
Manage regular member communications through utilization of a variety of technologies.
Establish new marketing streams and improve current streams; evaluate effectiveness of all marketing efforts.
Manage the development, content and production of the Association’s member newsletter.
Responsible for preparation of the record and report from the CCA’s Business Meetings held at Annual Meeting sites.
The DMC will act as staff liaison to several committees and task force groups
Manage the customer service responsibilities of the organization including the AMS system.
Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the ED.
Bachelor’s degree in business-related discipline (Marketing preferred)
At least 5 years of progressively responsible association management experience with emphasis on marketing, member engagement, communities/sections, and membership
Proficiency using current technology tools including MS Office, AMS, and Software Communication Solutions such as Higher Logic; must be tech savvy
Proven ability to develop/lead teams to top performance and to oversee and manage the work of external contributors
Experience working with volunteers and ability to introduce and market member initiatives
Highly effective written/verbal communication skills, the ability to comfortably interact at all levels, and a collaborative, consensus-minded leadership style
Excellent detail-orientation, analytical skills and decision-making abilities
Availability for some evenings and weekends as needed and approximately 20% travel
Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds and help with meeting set-up as needed
