The membership development specialist is responsible for the overall recruitment, retention and sales strategies related to membership. This position will be responsible for identifying and recruiting prospective members and retaining current members. Key responsibilities include all aspects of day-to-day membership sales, including direct communications through telephone, email and in-person. The position will require light travel to visit prospects and participate in NCTA meetings on a regular basis to stay acquainted with the industry and people in it. The incumbent will be expected to interact well with all NCTA staff, to develop a knowledge base, and to take lead responsibility in developing tools (brochures, emails, schedules, etc.) of a cogent and consistent marketing effort.
Point person for membership recruitment efforts, including identifying, prioritizing and following up on leads.
Work with NCTA President in meeting strategic membership recruitment goals by contributing ideas, identifying trends, and implementing plans for growth and retention.
Have a thorough understanding of NCTA benefits, programs and events and being able to clearly and effectively articulate them to prospective members.
Manage data input and reporting related to recruitment efforts.
Qualifications and Experience:
At least 3 years of association experience
High attention to detail and ability to work with others to meet deadlines, achieve goals and ability to problem solve with limited supervision.
Self-motivated, with the ability to multi-task, and work independently, as well as a part of a team, in a fast-pace environment.
Excellent project management skills. Ability to meet deadlines while managing conflicting priorities – and ensure that others do the same. Ability to make things happen.
Collaborative team player
Willingness to work occasionally outside of business hours.
Ability to travel for short business trips primarily traveling in North Carolina as assigned during the year.
Able to thrive in a small staff, team environment.
Additional Salary Information: Salary commensurate with experience. Salary for the position is under $55,000.
