MACUL is seeking to add a dynamic, technologically savvy coordinator for its conferences, events and professional development opportunities. MACUL is specifically seeking someone to assist our membership-based association with all aspects of event planning and conference coordination for a diversified event calendar.
The Event Services Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the overall management and improvements of MACUL’s conference offerings, while ensuring the organization can effectively serve nearly 25,000 members through event registration, facility planning, customized reporting, contract negotiations, bid solicitation, proposals and evaluations, as well as maintaining strong relationships on behalf of the organization.
Primary Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist the Executive Director in fulfilling the responsibility of maintaining all activities and programs of MACUL and its operations
Serving as the main point of contact for all MACUL events and the facilities they are held
Organize and successfully execute multiple projects at the same time
Support overall organization
Manage MACUL’s event based logistics for events ranging from 10-3000 room nights (1500 on peak), which may include minor contract negotiations, MOU’s or delineation of duties documents
Coordinate Exhibitor Logistics for a wide array of event styles, sizes and structures
Develop and maintain existing strong partnerships with CVB’s across the state
Attend all membership/partnership events and programming
Communicate effectively with various stakeholders across multiple platforms
Professionally represent MACUL at association meetings, site visits and event briefings (which may include various types of travel)
Participate fully in MACUL’s public relations, member service and program offerings (which may include various types of travel)
Candidates interested in this position must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality/tourism management, business or a directly related field. The ability to demonstrate an advanced proficiency in industry based software applications, knowledge of Michigan’s tourism industry and excellent communication skills.
Successful candidates must possess proven experiences that demonstrate the following skills: interpersonal skills, technologically savvy, reliable, professionalism, self-starter, multi-tasker, administrative skills to support successful events and a customer service mindset.
Preferred skill-set should include the following areas: minimum of 2 years in the Event Planning, Tourism and/or Hospitality Industry with a CMP endorsement, project management experience, ability to work evenings/weekends when necessary, ability to set and meet deadlines in a forward thinking and efficient manner, understanding of Association based events and the logistics their events require.

Additional Salary Information: The salary range for this position is $38,000 – 50,000 and will include a comprehensive benefits package (including medical, dental, vision and retirement) with an option of flexible shift times as determined by the organization.
