The American Gaming Association (AGA) is seeking a director of industry communications to lead a wide range of communications to a variety of key audiences. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the AGA is the premier national trade group representing the $240 billion U.S. casino gaming industry, which supports 1.7 million jobs in 40 states. It is the mission of the AGA to be the single most effective champion of the industry, relentlessly protecting against harmful and often misinformed public policies, paving a path for growth, innovation and reinvestment.
The director of industry communications leads a variety of written and visual communications that include, but are not limited to, industry messaging, senior leadership materials, and website content and design, among others. The director of industry communications reports to the vice president of strategic communications. Prior experience working in or around the gaming industry is a plus.
Write a variety of communications materials that include notes to the industry at-large and AGA member CEOs.
Work collaboratively across teams to develop and help execute integrated communication plans to advance AGA’s priorities and programs.
Assist in agenda development for board of directors and CEO meetings and prepare all materials, including talking points, presentations and briefing books.
Oversee creation and production of AGA’s collateral materials, including infographics, research reports, event materials, presentations and fact sheets.
Manage all AGA websites to ensure the latest content is provided in the most compelling manner possible.
Effectively and efficiently assist in managing any consultants and vendors providing communications services to the Association.
The ideal candidate possesses:
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in communications.
Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in the fields of communications, public relations, or political science.
Superior writing, editing and proofreading abilities and strong attention to detail.
Experience in the commercial casino industry, trade associations and/or advocacy is a plus.
Team player who thrives in a high-energy, multitask and collaborative work environment.
Ability to work independently, problem solve and a self-starter who takes initiative.
Effortlessly adjust to changes in priorities, and balances short-term deliverables with long-term strategic goals while producing a high-caliber work product.
Superior project management, organization skills and attention to detail required.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suites (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
Ability to travel as needed.
