FUNCTION: The Regional Director (RD) serves a unique and most important role in the NRLA organization. The RD is the primary link between the members and internal NRLA staff. Communication between the RD and internal staff is critical to the success of NRLA, its affiliates and individual industry members. OVERVIEW: The RD is the direct link between NRLA and the membership. The RD’s position is both sales and support. In the sales capacity the RD recruits new members and sells NRLA products (Ex: promote 401-k program, P&C Insurance, and sell drug testing and credit card services) and services (educational programs, information resources, etc.) to existing members. Since membership is the lifeblood of the association this is the primary role of the RD.
The support role falls into two areas. Ensuring that members’ needs are being satisfied and providing support to the Eastern Building Material Dealer Association. There are two ways to ensure member satisfaction – active and passive. Active activities include physically meeting with and making unsolicited telephone calls to members. Passive activities include responding to member inquiries and following up on third-party information. A second area is providing support to the Eastern Building Material Dealers Association. Support ranges from performing basic administrative tasks to advising volunteer leaders and managing specific projects. The RD role includes scheduling, preparing for and attending board meetings, golf outings, annual meetings and social events. NRLA has two full time Event Coordinators to (EC’s) to perform meeting planning/member service activities. The EC’s are responsible for creating and maintaining board and committee lists, making meeting arrangements, creating, printing and mailing meeting/event notices and promotional literature, preparing meeting/event materials, processing meeting/event registrations and tracking payments and expenses. The EC’s are also responsible for notifying NRLA directors of upcoming meetings so that timely updates on NRLA activities can be provided to the appropriate S&L committee chairs. The RD is responsible for attending all S&L meetings/events and providing on-site administrative support.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The RD serves three primary functions:
1.Support the overall mission, goals and objectives of the NRLA.
2.Retain existing members and recruit new members.
3.Industry education, the sale of products/services and general business support.
The RD's role is to provide support to the functional activities of HQ staff (i.e. legislative, education, member services, human resources and insurance, publication), not substitute for it. The RD's role is to foster strong relations between NRLA and HQ staff and the state and local affiliates. The RD's and HQ staff are a team, and good communication is the basis for teamwork.
ROLE: 1.Recruit new members. 2.Service existing members. 3.Act as the liaison between NRLA staff and the members and S&Ls 4.Provide support to State and Local Associations.
Providing support to NRLA's state and local affiliate associations includes a.Coordinating meetings and other activities. b.Working with the EC's to arrange meetings, mailings and troubleshoot situations. c.Interfacing with HQ staff to make sure that committee chairs/members are up-to-date on NRLA activities prior to meetings.
d.Acting as a liaison between NRLA HQ staff and state and local affiliates.
5+ years in customer services and related sales experience. Ability and willingness to travel 80-85% of the work week. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Association experience.
