Government Employees’ Benefit Association has an immediate opening for a Director of Marketing and Communications to become a member of a dynamic professional team. The Director is responsible for managing all marketing and communications for GEBA/GEMBA, GEBA Wealth Management, and the GEBA Scholarship Foundation. Using best-practice principles of service marketing and communications effectiveness, s/he will implement strategies consistently incorporate the GEBA/GEMBA brand into all customer/member touch-points, and measure results where possible. Brand elements include all printed and digital materials and the placement thereof (i.e. direct mail/email to members, GEBA signs, promotions, our newsletter Solutions content and design, ads, and websites for GEBA and GEBA Wealth Management.
This position calls for a strategic, proactive, technology savvy, energetic professional with a specific focus on the development and effective execution of the Association’s marketing and communications program.
Will supervise Marketing Specialist and outside vendors to include: PR firm, designers, writers, website company, SEO consultant, advertisement and media companies, proofreader, etc.
Provide innovative leadership and drive the vision and direction of GEBA and GEBA Wealth Management marketing and communications initiatives. Develop marketing plans and budgets that reflect the Association’s evolving strategies, financial goals and available data; and that consider existing audiences, potential new audiences, trends, forecasts and the competitive landscape.
General Marketing and Communications
Formulation and implementation of all marketing strategies, communications calendars, media plan and product line campaigns for the organization. This includes: writing, editing, and designing all materials and/or managing outside professionals.
Manage the relationship with all vendors and contractors such as writers, designers, printers, as well as other service providers, and ensures quality of work, timeliness of work and appropriate cost.
Optimize print, digital, and social media campaigns to generate awareness, interaction, brand exposure, and new sales
Manage all GEBA events including seminars to ensure material to be given out is appropriate and applicable to the event.
In coordination with Director of Member Services, develop strategic plans to grow and retain GEBA and GEBA Wealth Management membership. Manage all aspects of marketing to support customer acquisition and retention efforts.
Ensure corporate graphic standards are followed, deliver highest quality, consistent messaging externally and internally to support the brand.
Actively foster regular two-way communication with colleagues at all levels of the Association. Ensure there is a team-wide understanding of marketing plans and goals.
Oversees strategy for development of social media profiles and quality content.
Utilize analytics to drive strategic decision making. Evaluate metrics and report on effectiveness of marketing efforts. Establish and track metrics for measuring public relations and social media effectiveness.
Managing the strategies and inventory for promotional items.
Develop and manage for the Marketing and Communications budget.
Monitor the budget throughout the year to make sure it is not exceeded.
Identify opportunities to reduce costs/expenses (marketing or other)
Specific Printed Material
Design, write, and publish of the annual report.
Organize annual board elections including: coordinating photoshoots, compiling, and editing biographies from nominees, creating ballots, coordinating printing, distribution, and return of ballots.
Manage all aspects of the GEBA newsletter Solutions. Act as the editor and supervise all outside vendors/staff in its preparation.
Manage all collateral material for GEBA/GEMBA and GEBA Wealth Management products.
Website/Digital Communications Technology
Lead the development and management of website for both GEBA and GEBA Wealth Management. Ensure the websites promote GEBA in the best light and has accurate information.
Manage the email communications to members.
Attend Board, committee, and other meetings as required. Prepares marketing reports and recommendations for Board and committees.
Manage inventory of office stationary/envelopes/paper.
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or Public Relations, MBA preferred and 10 years’ experience in communications and marketing field.
Proven written and verbal communication skills that effectively express new ideas and present facts and data in a manner that is clear and focused to a target audience.
Expert knowledge in the latest digital and social media technology and channels and how to best leverage for marketing programs as part of an overall strategy. Working knowledge of Google analytics.
Ability to apply marketing knowledge, analysis, and research into actionable marketing plans.
Excellent project management skills. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with varying timelines and deadlines.
Strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, email campaign systems, and social media platforms. Adobe Creative Suites, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop experience is a plus.
Minimum 10- years comprehensive nonprofit marketing and/or communications management experience, association experience preferred. Financial services, insurance, non-profit association, or employee benefits experience highly desired.
Video and photography experience a plus in content creation.
Some travel (air & car) and public speaking will be required.
The work requires some physical strain such as long periods of sitting and walking while handling company business. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, including boxes of literature. Special vision abilities required by the job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
