The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is hiring a Controller to oversee and have responsibility for all financial activities, including:
Day-to-day accounting practices including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, grants administration, and outsourced accounting functions
Management and reporting
Budget and general accounting
Billing, grants, financial management, and
Ensuring annual audits and annual Form 990(s) are completed in accordance with IRS, OMB Circular A-133, GAAP, and other applicable regulatory standards.
In collaboration with the Executive Vice President and the Vice President, Finance and Administration, the Controller will provide support to the CEO of APIC and the outsourced accounting firm for APIC Consulting Services, Inc. (APIC's wholly-owned subsidiary) and will:
Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of systems, processes and data
Maintain and/or develop a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
Oversee or reconcile cash accounts, accounts receivables, fixed assets, deferred revenue, and other accounts within the iMIS system.
Ensure accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and accounts receivable are collected promptly
Maintain the chart of accounts
Prepare monthly reports including P&L analyses and ad hoc management reports
Manage preparation and implementation of the annual budget and provide regular feedback and direction to senior staff and program managers.
Leverage strengths of accounting/finance team members and
Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree with an accounting or finance major (MBA preferred), and have a current CPA. In addition the successful candidate will have:
7-10 years' progressively responsible accounting experience including at least five years' of management experience, preferably in a membership association
Mastery of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost-control principles
Thorough understanding of GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting
Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis
Strong understanding of finance and accounting practice with grants
Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software (experience with MS Dynamics SL and FRx reporting software preferred but not required).
Knowledge of iMIS membership software (or equivalent) required
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
Knowledge of ADP payroll system
Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills
Willingness to travel approximately 5% of the time.
