POSITION TITLE:Director, Business and Data Analysis
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Information Technology
SUMMARY: Responsible for providing system requirements analysis and system specifications to meet the business needs of AGA and ensuring the delivery of quality systems; guiding the execution of AGA’s data strategy including data analytics and visualizations to help drive data-driven business decisions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of and in conjunction with the Vice President, Information Technology, the position has the following responsibilities:
Analyzes staff business requirements and determines if needs (a) can be met with existing commercial software or existing internally developed systems or (b) require custom programming.
Consults with staff to develop and document detailed business requirements and programming specifications for use by internal and external developers.
Assists staff in the development of test plans and test case selection; coordinates and/or performs testing of system modifications to ensure that documented requirements are met and that final acceptance is acquired.
Develops, provides, or coordinates system training, educational tools, and materials.
Facilitates system testing and efficient quality assurance practices.
Manages process of working with staff to understand business questions to define and visualize metrics using data visualizations, dashboards, and advanced statistical modeling.
Leads the association's data management program in collaboration with key stakeholders.
Evaluates, recommends, and participates in selection of data analytics tools and data warehouse components, including hardware, database management systems, ETL software, data mining tools, and meta data management tools
Develops, manages and promotes processes for identification, reporting and resolution of data quality issues, and works to ensure ongoing data consistency and integrity.
Manages and coaches the data manager and programmer/database administrator positions, fostering positive work environment and helping team members to develop skills to advance AGA projects.
Participates in industry and other professional networks to ensure awareness of industry standards, trends, and best practices to strengthen organizational and technical knowledge.

Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or Information Systems Management with two to three years of experience analyzing and documenting business requirements and system specifications in a business environment or three (3) to five (5) years of experience analyzing and documenting business requirements and system specifications in a business environment
Three to five years of experience working in or for an association or professional society
Detailed knowledge of and experience with
Business system requirements analysis
Business process analysis methods, e.g., LEAN facilitation
Agile methodology preferred
Data analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
Demonstrated ability to analyze and document business processes.
Demonstrated ability to write complete, clear, and accurate requirements and specifications.
