The Human Resources Manager is responsible for operational oversight and execution of the HR function for the Society for Vascular Surgery, including the Patient Safety Organization and the Foundation. This includes development, communication, training, and implementation of HR policies, programs, benefits, and services. The manager will support the executive management team in cultivating a positive, professional work culture, and fostering professional development while ensuring accountability and ownership for results. This position will also assist the executive management team in recognizing and addressing HR issues with the goal of positive resolution.
What you own:
Developing, maintaining and implementing employee policies.
Responsible for all HR related compliance activities, such as FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, OSHA, legal posting requirements, and annual training activities; this includes maintaining employee records and files in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and keeping employee handbook up to date.
Responsible for the employee performance management program, including all employee communications and tracking.
Providing recruitment support to hiring managers, including development of job descriptions, posting of jobs, screening candidates, background checks if required and preparing employment offers; or working with outside recruiters as needed.
Responsible for employee relations, including but not limited to new employee orientation and onboarding, conducting employee surveys, and support to staff committees and meetings.
Performing customer service functions in an exemplary manner by answering employee requests and questions. Advising staff on the interpretation of benefits, recruitment, compensation systems, new employee orientation and various HR processes and procedures.
Working with executive management team to encourage and support a positive, professional work culture that fosters professional development programs and employee training on issues related to compliance, safety, welfare and wellness.
Providing high-quality advice and service to executive management on daily employee relations and performance management issues; responding to hiring mangers request for support and guidance on employee complaints or performance improvement needs, as appropriate.
Responsible for benefits management including the day-to-day administration of medical, dental, STD, LTD, Life & AD&D, COBRA, pre-tax benefits, and other benefits for new hires, terminations, and any employee changes; this includes the implementation of annual Open Enrollment.
Working with the Executive Director and Deputy, manage compensation program, including merit increases and bonus programs, pay scales and grading.
Payroll administration, including working with reports from internal time sheet system and entering payroll in ADP Run platform.
Managing relationships with employment agencies used for temp services and temp to hire positions.
What you bring to the job:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field i.e. relational communications, organizational psychology, or Bachelor’s degree in another field with certification in HR from an accredited HR management certificate program.
Minimum three years’ experience in HR setting
Basic knowledge and understanding of HR policies, labor law and employee benefits
Ability to understand and support broad vision of talent management
Knowledge in organizational development a plus
Strong oral and written communication skills
Outstanding interpersonal and coaching skills
Evidence of high respect for confidentiality
Excellent organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Payroll software
