The Marketing Specialist is responsible for the tactical implementation of marketing plans, collateral and communications for the SOA. The Marketing Specialist will develop and create high-quality and effective marketing communications to increase awareness and engagement of key target audiences critical to the success of numerous initiatives and programs. The Marketing Specialist will also work as part of the team to handle portions of the SOA’s sponsorship activities. The Marketing Specialist should be very hands-on in executing projects and tactics on a wide variety of SOA programs, products and services and align allmaterials and outputs with SOA brand identity guidelines.
Develop and implement a multi-faceted marketing plan for each assigned professional development offering with targeted campaigns to members and other interested stakeholders.
Meet with internal stakeholders to understand program/event needs; providing content direction, formulating effective marketing plans with tactical details, ensuring smooth and timely implementation of tactics, tracking registrations and updating marketing tactics as needed.
Provide strategic results reporting for each campaign and recommend improvements, enhancements and testing strategies for future campaigns.
Define and refine list pulls for both print and electronic mailing to maximize effectiveness of segmentation strategies.
Work with design team to develop a wide variety of quality marketing collateral, including flyers, ads, brochures, posters, web graphics, banners and eblasts, and other items.
Responsible for ensuring that all marketing materials are error-free and on brand.
Edit documents and web copy as needed.
Staff booth at various on-site professional development events.
Coordinate the marketing/creative production process for the marketing and creative teams - tracking requests from all departments, working out mutually agreed timelines, maintaining and updating a master production schedule, moving projects along to meet intermediate timelines, coordinating with printers - ensuring timely completion of projects within budgetary constraints.
Produce the Professional Development newsletter, including gathering input from various stakeholders on upcoming events and news. Responsible for writing and editing, and flowing text into newsletter template, as well as, deployment of newsletter to members worldwide.
Assist in the coordination and fulfillment of SOA’s consolidated sponsorship program, including communication with sponsors and internal teams to fulfill sponsorship benefits.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (an equivalent amount of training, education and experience will be considered):
Requires bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or a related field.
Requires a minimum of two (2) years’ experience, preferably in marketing
Experience managing projects with emphasis on working collaboratively with team members to move things along in accordance with set timelines.
Familiarity with writing for marketing pieces and editing best practices.
Experience in implementing tactical activities to support marketing efforts.
Understanding of best practices in email marketing and response tracking desired.
Requires intermediate-to-expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and intermediate-level knowledge of AP Style.
Ability to travel a minimum of 5-10%
