The PAC Manager is responsible for managing the compliance, daily operations, and accounting of NAIFA’s non-partisan Political Action Committee disbursement efforts.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a strategy to leverage PAC distributions to support candidates for federal office in a way that builds long term influence for NAIFA.
Organize materials for the Candidate Selection Group meetings, including preparing the Cash Balance and Financial Status documents.
Maintain the integrity of the PAC through accurate, reliable administration of candidate/disbursement records.
Prepare and maintain PAC election cycle budgets.
Assist with PAC effort to raise funds from individual members of the association for NAIFA’s federal PAC and the state association PACs.
Evaluate candidates seeking endorsement and financial contributions from IFAPAC, and make strategic recommendations to the Candidate Selection Group for approval. This process includes vetting/interviewing candidates, gathering relevant issue and political research, and seeking/managing input from NAIFA’s PIC, PAC and policy staff.
Responsible for all aspects of PAC Candidate Selection Group meetings, including agenda setting, record keeping and maintaining strong relationships with individual PAC Committee members.
Serve as liaison between National office and state leaders regarding request for candidate campaign funds.
Collect, screen and distribute background materials and disbursement budget for the Candidate Selection Group.
Keep current on the political climate and the relative strength and weakness of all potential federal target races in order to make strong recommendations.
Manage the candidate interview process, including but not limited to maintaining a candidate questionnaire, and directing interviews between potential candidates and NAIFA policy staff.
Guide Candidate Selection Group on candidate support and implement their decisions.
Manage PAC distributions to candidates.
Manage day-to-day disbursement operations including budgeting, check requests, distributions, member event planning, communications and compliance reporting.
Evaluate candidates seeking endorsement and financial.
Write articles for NAIFA and other association publications.
Four years of PAC management or political fundraising experience, preferably from a Capitol Hill or association perspective or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in association government relations or congressional or state house office highly desirable; some experience in volunteer and committee management preferred.
Thorough knowledge of the legislative process.
Strong understanding of federal election laws, specifically regarding PACs.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office and PAC and grassroots software programs.
Skilled using computer systems designed to enhance fundraising programs and their administration.
Adept at building coalitions and consensus among membership.
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
