For more than a century, the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) has played an increasingly important role in capturing the spoken word and converting it to text. NCRA’s members serve a unique and critical need for sophisticated expertise in the skills and technology needed to provide accurate, complete records of legal proceedings and other important events. Members also provide equal access to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community by providing captioning for live events as well as closed captioning for television.
Through effective lobbying for industry objectives, supportive programming, and aggressive advocacy, the association works to promote and protect the best interests of its members. NCRA serves 16,000 members including judicial reporters, broadcast and live-event captioners, legal videographers, educators, and students. Together with the National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF), NCRA works to advance and promote the profession.
