JOB SUMMARY The Education Project Manager oversees the coordination and administration of all aspects of ongoing educational projects and activities including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling activities to ensure effective and efficient development and delivery. The position ensures compliance requirements are met, adheres to project guidelines, and develops, manages and monitors special topic programs. The Education Project Manager will serve as staff liaison for the Lab Management University, the University of Pathology Informatics, and the ASCP/American Proficiency Institute products and committees to maintain ongoing quality assurance/quality control of existing programs, address and/or coordinate the resolution of customer service issues, and the development of new educational materials, perform more strategic tasks, handle change management (program and environmental changes), and determine business strategies and objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Program Manager performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:
Plan the delivery of the overall project and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization along with new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization.
Ensure that project activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization and comply with all ACCME, MOC, and CMP requirements for pathology quality education.
Manage committees and content workgroups as well as serve as key contact for all communications related to set-up, requests, and project participation.
Facilitate discussions to investigate programmatic changes and new project development while collaborating on research and incorporation of new technologies for project enhancement.
Responsible for managing and supporting educational projects to include webinars, learning management systems administration, and live learning sessions.
Report and communicate on the project to executive management and other stakeholders.
Participate in the establishment and monitoring of project-related budgets ensuring that the activities operate within the approved budget.
Identify and evaluate the risks associated with project activities and take appropriate action for control/resolution.
Monitor the project activities on a regular basis and conduct an ongoing/annual evaluations according to the project evaluation framework.
Work with staff in various departments to ensure timely production and responsiveness to customer inquiries.
Work with marketing team to advance the visibility and ensure contemporary content and design for the continuing education projects.
Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years’ educational or work experience in continuing medical education required.
Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
Experience with managing budgets of $500,000+ and excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build rapport.
Excellent diction, grammar, and vocabulary both verbal and written with the ability to organize, structure, and communicate information and ideas clearly.
Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Exceptional customer service skills including ability to work with staff, volunteers, faculty, and authors.
Strong natural instincts with thoughtful decision making capabilities leading to effective results.
Organized self-starter with ability to prioritize and the flexibility and adaptability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS The incumbent works on a tight schedule with multiple deadlines. Some travel and occasional weekend committee assignments are associated with this position.
