Administrative, Clerical, Support, Customer Service and Support
The Michigan Municipal League is seeking an Events / Operations Assistant to join our dynamic and highly passionate team. Salary for this position is approximately $30,000 - $35,000, depending on qualifications. We are seeking a self-starter who can support our team in executing various League events and services. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, can take on new challenges, is incredibly detail-oriented, and can effectively and accurately juggle multiple tasks within deadlines.
If you were working for us, here are just some things you would do:
~ Serve as a central receptionist and primary point of contact for internal and external customers. Receive visitors, answer multi-line computer-based telephone system, and solicit sufficient information to appropriately route and refer customers.
~ Assist members with scheduling on-site educational programs. Clarify programming needs and objectives, identify appropriate options, and coordinate on-site programs. Prepare handouts or coordinate with speakers to do so, and complete related administrative and bookkeeping work.
~ Set up events in membership database, process registrations, maintain databases and spreadsheets, enter data, and generate reports, including participant educational credits.
~ Prepare and assemble materials for various events including reports, certificates, badges, signs, and other items. Staff program check-in and assist with on-site program coordination as needed.
~ Provide general clerical, secretarial, and administrative support within assigned department and League-wide. Make copies, prepare packets and other materials, pack, load, and unload boxes and equipment, and complete related tasks.
~ Become and remain cross-trained to serve as backup for other department functions.
Successful candidates will have:
~ A high school diploma is required. Education or technical training equivalent to an associate’s degree in a related field is preferred.
~ At least two years of experience in an administrative position is required.
~ Excellent customer service and communication skills is required.
~ Superior organizational skills and close attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities are required.
~ Excellent skill in the use of word processing, desktop publishing/presentation software, spreadsheet and database software (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint).
~ Ability to travel, pack and load heavy boxes, move and set up various displays and materials, and walk and stand for extended periods while staffing event programs.
