AAMI’s graphic designer is responsible for both print and digital design, production, and project management for marketing, membership and other materials, including the layout of a bi-monthly magazine.
Working with all departments, lead efforts in determining both print and digital design solutionsthat create cohesive visual statements and tell a powerful story. Ensure adherence to AAMI brand standards.
Review AAMI brand guidelines and provide recommendations for overall updates. As digital technologies emerge and change, provide guidance on the use of brand elements for those platforms. Provide guidance—internally and externally—on the visual identity guidelines.
Update and develop templates, such as letterhead, flyers, brochures, that can be easily used by others. Maintain file for all AAMI collateral—letterhead, envelopes, business cards. Identify a vendor and working with the operations team, develop a system for ordering and printing.
Identify appropriate imagery to be used for campaigns and individual projects. Monitors stock art account and recommends changes. Develops and maintains a centralized image and logo library of both AAMI and stock art photos that can easily be accessed both internally and externally.
Review all internal external designs for adherence to brand guidelines and specifications of project and all print proofs for accuracy.
Develop design concepts for campaigns, such as the Annual Conference, and present to stakeholders. Execute all elements and provide guidelines for their use to be distributed to external organizations, such as exhibitors.
Design a variety of other print materials ranging from membership brochures to annual reports to trade show displays and signage.
Responsible for layout for the bi-monthly journal, Biomedical Instrumentation & Technology (BI&), including typography, cover design, graphs and charts, photo manipulation such as color correction, final prep of print files. Work collaboratively with the Communications team on layout concepts, schedule and proofing.
Design graphics for digital channels such as emails, ads, and website. Identify opportunities to create infographics and other visual graphics.
Develop motion graphics, animations and videos to be used either as stand-alone tactics or in conjunction with other digital or print initiatives.
Identify opportunities to design digital elements for campaigns.
Provide insights in design trends and creative approaches for reaching healthcare technology professionals.
Manages the scheduling of all design projects—both in-house and external. Ensures the project management schedule is updated and that projects are delivered on time..
Selects and manages external designers, printers and mailhouses. Provides all necessary files to designers, printers and mailhouses. Maintains current postal rates and mailing regulations and provide recommendations for design and printing that ensure best postal rates.
Coordinates the review of all collateral with appropriate stakeholders and staff, following the appropriate steps for review. Clarify any review comments and obtain sign-off from appropriate stakeholder prior to release of projects into production.
Obtain estimates for print and mail projects at the appropriate stage and provide to stakeholders for budget approval. Develop a system for tracking invoices for timely payment.
Develops and maintains digital files for all projects. In addition, maintain copies of printed materials.
Identify best practices and recommend, develop, and manage processes that provide more efficiency and increase design effectiveness.
Assists with other projects on an as needed-basis.
A bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related discipline.
Five to seven years’ graphic design work.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative programs including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Comp, After Effects, Lightroom, Animate, Premiere is required. Experience using programs in Windows-based environment preferred.
Must be able to conceptualize, develop and pitch campaign concepts to stakeholders. Experience in digesting technical copy and developing appropriate visual message that resonates with the target audience.
Design of emails and other digital graphics is desired along with ability to design for both print and design.
Knowledge of the print and digital production processes and mailing regulations and rates.
Requires excellent proofreading skills.
Knowledge of advanced functions in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel expected.
Candidate must possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; be extremely detail oriented, creative, resourceful, solution driven, graceful under pressure, and able to take initiative.
