The Animal Health Institute is a nonprofit organization, that, for over 75 years, has promoted the health and well-being of companion and food animals by representing the companies that make drugs and vaccines to keep animals healthy. AHI is a 501(c)(6) organization based in Washington, DC and is seeking a Manager, Animal Drug and Veterinary Biologics Sections.
This position reports to the Vice President, Regulatory, Scientific and International Affairs. They will serve as the primary staff representative to the Animal Drug Section (ADS) AND Veterinary Biologics Section (VBS) and its working groups. They provide both technical and organizational support to keep the VP abreast of critical issues and activities.
Organize and schedule meetings and conference calls of ADS and VBS committees and working groups
Take and produce minutes of meetings and conference calls
Prepare comment letters and other communications for submission to government regulatory authorities
Work with officials from USDA, FDA and EPA
Manages the affairs of the international trade committee
Other duties as assigned
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required and the ability to manage multiple activities. The candidate should possess good technical writing skills. The ideal candidate will have a college degree and, preferably, experience working in the field of veterinary medicine or other medical fields, or with government agencies.
AHI is a Washington, DC based trade association representing manufacturers of veterinary biologicals, pharmaceuticals, feed additives, and pesticides for both pets and food producing animals. AHI has been in operation since 1941 and works to promote the availability of veterinary medicines to maintain the health and welfare of animals. The association has numerous interactions with the Food and Dr...ug Administration, the US Department of Agriculture, and the Environmental Protection Agency which regulate the quality, safety, effectiveness, and labeling of animal health products under Federal laws. AHI also interacts with Congressional offices on legislative initiatives affecting the animal health industry. AHI is comprised of 9 full time employees.
